Fanciful Gemstone Carvings
David enjoys pieces that play in the fanciful world of enchantment, and he brings alive figures that some believe are just imaginary. This inspiring Fairy Princess is cut in rock crystal and capped with a star rose quartz cabochon. The Man in the Moon pendant includes a lemon opal carving set with diamonds in sterling and gold. These are great examples of the incredible detail that David’s relief and high-relief carvings exhibit. David frequently does carvings in gem crystals such as aquamarine, tourmaline, emerald, and topaz.

One-of-a-Kind Clasps
Many of David’s pieces include a unique touch – an individually designed clasp including gemstone and metal work to allow the pendant to be worn at different lengths.

Large sculpture work
New Moon is an example of David’s surrealistic sculpture, and is a good representation of his larger work. Rendered in alabaster, New Moon represents the birth of a new galaxy. This larger, yet extremely detailed sculptured piece, measures 8” x 5” x 7” and is pale cream with pink and brown veining. David also works in bronze, marble and wood.

Gem Engraved Designer Jewelry
This double-sided pendant combines David’s versatile carving work, and shows a reverse intaglio in rock crystal (top) and bas-relief engraving in 18 ct. gold (bottom). Backed with the deep indigo of fine Afghanistan lapis and electric blue Peruvian Opal, David creates a very lifelike image of the West Coast Sea Nettle Jellyfish. With attention to the finest detail, even the clasp is a hand-carved sea snail of cats-eye aquamarine.

Silver Jewelry
Most recently David has begun to introduce work in silver. These pieces may include small carvings, such as the jade avocado held by the adorable silver possum with a wrap around tail. These pieces demonstrate his signature detailed wax work and novel settings, such as this red tiger eye acorn pendant, with a uniquely designed silver oak leaf clasp.
